LOS ANGELES, Sep. 17, 2020 — Independent market research firm Franchise Business Review recently named Mathnasium multicenter owners Jeff and Christina Rucker to their Rock Star Franchise Owners 2020. To determine the 81 Rock Stars on the list, the company surveyed more than 27,000 franchisees across 300 leading brands.
The husband and wife team opened their first Mathnasium in 2011 in Evans, Georgia and have since added four more locations in Georgia and South Carolina, with combined annual revenue of almost $2 million. They’ve impacted the lives of more than 3,400 families through supplemental math education.
Jeff is also the center director in their Augusta location, and Christina is the marketing and human resources director for all their centers. Yet they’ve still found more time to be with their children than in their previous careers — Jeff as the chief meteorologist and Christine as a news producer for Augusta’s WAGT-TV.
“We wanted a business that could serve the community and allow us to support our growing family. Mathnasium was the perfect fit,” said Jeff. “In addition to changing the lives of children through math, we employ 80 people, so it’s truly a win for everyone.”
The global pandemic forced the team to pause in-center instruction in March, but they took advantage of a new service, Mathnasium@home, to quickly transition their enrolled students to online learning — with the same live, face-to-face instruction as in their centers.
Local families responded enthusiastically. Although their centers reopened in May with strict COVID precautions, the Ruckers have since brought on new students who use Mathnasium@home to progress in their math skills, providing support to families who are struggling with the challenges of remote school learning.
